Suspect Arrested after Hit-and-Run Collision near Main Street

SALINAS, CA (July 1, 2022) – Saturday morning, 20-year-old Andres Roque Espinoza was arrested following a fatal DUI crash on Highway 101.

The incident happened around 3:17 a.m., on the northbound lanes of the highway, just north of Main Street.

Furthermore, investigators said Espinoza rear-ended a 2002 Dodge Ram, driven by a 41-year-old man. The impact caused the Dodge to roll over toward the right shoulder of the highway.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, the Dodge driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene. However, Espinoza did not stop and fled the scene in a Subaru before the authorities arrived.

Eventually, CHP officers arrested Andres Roque Espinoza for DUI and other related charges. At this time, an active investigation into the crash is underway.
