13-Year-Old Bicyclist Dies in Fatal Crash on El Camino Real

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA (April 5, 2022) – Thursday morning, a bicycle collision on Grant Road left 13-year-old Andre Retana dead.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 8:15 a.m., near the intersection of Grant Road and El Camino Real.

Per reports, the young bicyclist fell off their bicycle, in front of an oncoming construction truck. The driver was unable to see Retana, and consequently struck the young bicyclist.

Paramedics immediately responded and transported Retana to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. However, medics later pronounced Retana dead at the hospital.

The loved ones of the deceased victim organized a GoFundMe fundraiser to help the family of Andre with funeral and legal expenses.

At this time, Mountain View Officials are still currently investigating the fatal incident.
