Today's Daily Trojan publishes a story, unconfirmed by the University of Southern California, that superstar football coach Pete Carroll “is not only the highest paid employee at USC but at any private university in the country.” The DT bases its piece on a report issued by the Chronicle of Higher Education. The subscription-only journal and Web site claimed Carroll, who has been with the university since 2000, makes $4.4 million per year — more than four times school president Steven Sample's salary. And America's second-highest paid employee at a private university? David Silvers, a dermatology professor at Columbia. (Photo: Wikipedia)
