As with any trademarked, money-making, globally televised event, those celebrating with an event of their own have to get creative. Bars enticing customers to “watch the Big Game here” can't name-drop the Super Bowl. “Tinseltown's Biggest Night” often stands in for the Academy Awards, but what kind of crazy person would have a public party to watch the, erm, little gold man statues be handed out? What goofball would dare gather L.A.'s most uproariously comedic minds and have them offer running commentary a la Mystery Science Theater 3000? Josh di Donato revives his popular red-carpet comedy slaughterhouse for the first time since 2003 with I'm Going Somewhere With This Presents: Salute to Movie Night. “Making fun of celebrities is one of L.A.'s greatest exports — and some of our finest experts will be gathered here,” he promises. How many years have you watched the Oscars, painfully sipping Shiraz with a bunch of bitter industry types? Too many. Have fun poking fun at our town's big night, alongside Howard Stern Show regular Eli Braden, the UCB's Walsh Brothers, TV's Moshe Kasher, The Moth's Brian Finkelstein, the incomparable Blaine Capatch and a cast of, if not thousands, then a dozen super-funny people and super-surprise guests. Looking to create a party-in-your-living-room vibe, attendees are encouraged to come with blankets, couch cushions and comfy clothes. The Mint, 6010 Pico Blvd.; Sun., Feb. 26, 4 p.m.; $15, $10 in advance; brownpapertickets.com/event/225609.
