Anarbagh Indian restaurant, run by the Nassa family, has been in business in Woodland Hills for over 20 years. But if getting to that end of the Valley to feed your Indian food fix is just too much for you, you're in luck. A second outpost recently opened about 10 miles east in Encino.

According to the manager, the second Anarbaugh actually opened quietly about 4 months ago but celebrated their official opening this week. Word seems to have spread quickly because on a Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. the place was packed.

Anarbagh 2 sits in a corner of a strip mall, but all that is forgotten once you walk inside. The décor is typical of Indian restaurants with rich woods and lots of red and burgundy accents. If you don't want to sit in one of the big booths you can opt for a little outdoor dining on small patio out front.

Their chef, Mohammed Miah, has been working for the at the Woodland Hills location for about 17 years and took charge of opening the kitchen in Encino as well.

Everything is made to order so diners get to choose how spicy they like their dishes and if they want a little less oil that's okay too. The menu is filled with Indian classics like chicken tikka, all kinds of curry dishes, various naan breads and a huge selection of vegetarian options. The tandoori comes out on a large sizzling skillet and is served with a generous helping of raita to cool things down.

The prices are pretty standard for Indian food. The best deals come at lunch when you can get a full meal with soup or salad for under $10. It might just be worth the drive to the Valley for that.

Anarbagh 2: 17312 Ventura Blvd., Encino; (818) 907-7100.
