Dennis RomeroA man was behind bars today after a woman was found with her pants down on a bus bench in an area of South L.A. where a series of rapes had occurred, police said.
A police dog tracked down a suspect after the woman was discovered at Manchester and Normandie avenues in Manchester Square just before 12:55 a.m. today, according to City News Service. The LAPD couldn't confirm these events to the Weekly, saying only that information would be released this afternoon.
Here's what CNS found out:
An officer spotted the woman unconscious and bloody on a bus bench, and a search for the suspect was organized. A suspect was tracked down about 2 a.m. The woman was taken to California Hospital, police said.
This was happening in the midst of a rape spree in the area. Cops said two sexual assaults had taken place Friday morning near South Western Avenue and Manchester.
One victim was a 72-year-old woman who opened her door after the suspect asked for water and he pushed his way inside, police said.
Another victim realized the perp had a fake gun and hit him with it, cops told City News.
Really.
The suspect from this morning had yet to be named. We'll keep you updated.
