You can get wine, marijuana, and even, er, masseuses delivered to your home within the hour in Los Angeles.

Why not everyday shopping items? Amazon, of course, has been all over this.

And today the online retail giant announced today that its “Get It Today” shopping filter is now available in L.A. (although it doesn't seem to apply to the obvious – masseuses):
]
What that means is that you can now sort through the gazillion products available on the site and easily find more than 1 million things that are eligible for same-day delivery in Los Angeles.

Things like new DVD releases (Frozen), electronics, Kindles, family items like diapers and deodorant, and tools and fix-it items.

Amazon says more than a million items are eligible for same-day delivery in L.A. You have to order before noon, and the delivery charge is $5.99 for Amazon Prime members (Prime costs $99 a year) or $9.98 for non-members (with a delivery charge of .99 cents per extra item ordered).

The retailer guarantees deliver before 9 p.m. The company says it works like this:

Items eligible for Same-Day Delivery are clearly marked on the product detail page. Customers who search or browse the Amazon product selection will find the “Get It Today” filter on the left-hand navigation panel, just below the “Amazon Prime” filter. They can select “Get It Today” and see only those items eligible for Same-Day Delivery.

No, Amazon's famous, experimental drone delivery service is not involved here. We were told that Amazon was using a variety of delivery services to make this work.

 Greg Greeley, vice president of Amazon Prime:

With expanded same-day selection and new convenient pricing, Prime members can now take advantage of the “Get It Today” filter to fill up their shopping cart and have it delivered to their door in hours.

Soon we won't have to move a finger to do anything. And this is why America is in such good physical shape.
