Tow Truck Accident near Shepard Avenue Left 22-Year-Old Fresno Woman

FRESNO, CA (April 13, 2023) – Early Wednesday morning, a car crash involving a tow truck on Friant Road claimed the life of Amaya Chenot. Officers responded to the collision around 1:00 a.m. in the area near Shepard Avenue in Fresno. Upon arrival, officers discovered the wreckage involving a tow truck and a car. Based on the investigation, a northbound tow truck on Friant Road collided with a woman’s vehicle going west on Shepard. In addition, footage from the incident revealed that the tow truck ran a red light and t-boned a woman’s vehicle, sending it onto the opposing lane. Responding medical personnel arrived and extricated the woman from her vehicle. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Authorities identified the deceased driver as 22-year-old Amaya Chenot of Fresno. Police said the tow truck driver did not sustain injuries from the incident. Officials also temporarily closed Friant Avenue, from Audubon Drive Avenue to Fort Washington Road – but it has since reopened. The Fresno Officials continue to investigate the Friant Road tow truck accident.
