Two Semi-Truck Accident near Cherokee Road Left One Fatality
LOS BANOS, CA (October 27, 2022) – Saturday night, Alonso De Jesus Lara was involved in a semi-truck crash on Henry Miller Avenue that killed one.
The accident happened at around 11:54 p.m. along the east of Cherokee Road on October 15th.
According to officials, De Jesus Lara was driving east on Henry Miller Avenue at around 55 mph in a 2022 Freightliner Cascadia carrying two tomato trailers.
Meanwhile, a 36-year-old Cantua Creek man, was driving west on Henry Miller in a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia hauling two empty trailers.
The right tires of the first semi-truck drifted off onto the south shoulder, causing the rear trailer to lose control and veer into the westbound lanes, crashing into the front of the second semi-truck.
Tragically, the 36-year-old driver, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
While the other driver, Alonso De Jesus Lara, 32, of Madera, escaped the crash unharmed.
At this time, officials do not consider drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the accident. However, an active investigation remains ongoing.
