A man who allegedly stabbed a fellow movie patron in the neck with a meat thermometer after the victim asked the suspect's companion to stop talking on her mobile phone was charged Friday with attempted murder, the District Attorney's office announced.

Landry Boullard, 39, was also charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon following the confrontation during a screening of Shutter Island at the Cinemark 22 theater in Lancaster last month. He pleaded not guilty Friday.

Boullard was identified through an anonymous tip and arrested Wednesday, the D.A.'s office stated. The victim was hurt so bad he temporarily became comatose and suffered paralysis, a D.A.'s spokeswoman said. Two other moviegoers who tried to stop the attack were also injured.

The suspect is an ex-convict with a record that includes robbery in 1990, drug sales in 1995, and possession of a firearm by a felon in 2000 and 2007. Authorities are looking for another possible suspect, captured on security video, who apparently was with the alleged stabber at the theater. They wouldn't say if it's the companion who was talking on her phone.

Boullard could face life in prison if convicted. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for April 1.
