A woman alleged to have shoplifted at the Shops at Mission Viejo mall led authorities on a freeway pursuit all the way to Sherman Oaks Wednesday afternoon. KTLA News picked up the chase about 1:40 p.m. as it headed north on the 405 passed LAX, through Culver City and West L.A. and into the San Fernando Valley.

The chase started about 12:40 p.m. in Irvine, authorities said. About 1:57 the driver of the Pontiac G6 pulled over on the eastbound 101 freeway near Van Nuys Boulevard in Sherman Oaks and, after a short standoff, surrendered. By the California Highway Patrol units had blocked off eastbound lanes and were calling for westbound lanes to be shut down. Expect echoes of traffic this afternoon.
