Until January 9, Pink’s Hot Dog on La Brea will be donating all proceeds of its ‘Betty White Naked Dog’ to the L.A. Zoo.

The Betty White-inspired menu item has been a staple at the restaurant since 2010, being featured as a simply a plain hot dog.

White had a near and dear relationship with the L.A. Zoo,n 1974, being appointed as a trustee by the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA), a non-profit organization connected to the L.A. Zoo. The City of Los Angeles also named White an “Ambassador to the Animals” in 2006, after years of advocacy for local animals.

In 2012, L.A. Zoo animals were heavily featured in her book, “Betty and Friends: My Life at the Zoo.”

On December 31, 2021, it was announced that Betty White had died of “natural causes” at the age of 99. White was set to celebrate her 100th birthday on January 17, with People Magazine featuring her in a commemorative issue.

Pink’s has since hanged a banner outside their restaurant that reads, “Betty White, we will love you forever.” Owner Richard Pink also revealed that the Betty White Naked Dog will be on the restaurant’s menu “forever.”

The hot dog was unveiled in 2010 during the grand opening of the Pink’s Hot Dog location at Universal City Walk. Even in its 2010 debut, proceeds for the dog were donated to L.A. Animal Services’ East and West Valley Animal Shelters.
