18-Year-Old Detained after DUI Collision near Buckner Road

MERCED, CA (October 5, 2021) – Authorities arrested 18-year-old Alizha Cooksey Sunday night, following a hit-and-run on Gerard Avenue.

The incident occurred around 11:53 p.m., on East Gerard Avenue and Buckner Road. Dispatchers arrived to the scene shortly after.

According to reports, the driver of a blue Chrysler 300 struck a parked vehicle and an electric box. Three passengers as well as the driver fled the scene immediately after.

Officers later located the suspects and arrested Alizha Cooksey, the driver, on DUI related charges.

No further information has been released to the public at this time. However, an active investigation remains ongoing.
