One Dead after Hit-and-Run DUI Collision on Berkshire Road

BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 24, 2022) – Authorities arrested Alexis Leon after a deadly DUI accident on Berkshire Road on Tuesday.

The incident happened around 11:00 p.m. at the 1300 block of Berkshire Road.

According to reports, a driver fatally hit a female pedestrian. Responding officers arrived and found the woman down in the roadway.

At this time, officials have not released her identity pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, the driver allegedly fled immediately after the collision but later returned. Police determine that the driver was under the influence, but speed also appears to have played a factor in the collision.

The suspect driver has been identified as 21-year-old Alexis Leon, who is facing several charges, including gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

Anyone with information regarding this collision is urged to local authorities at the Bakersfield Police Station.
