31-Year-Old Man Arrested after DUI Accident on Cartmill Avenue

TULARE, CA (February 27, 2023) – Monday afternoon, Alex Garcia was arrested and a man was killed in a DUI collision on J Street.

Police responded to the scene around 3:48 p.m., near Cartmill Avenue on February 20th.

According to reports, Garcia was driving west on Cartmill Avenue at a high rate of speed and ran through a red light. As a result, Garcia collided with another vehicle at the intersection.

Upon impact, the 37-year-old male driver of the other vehicle died at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released his identity.

During preliminary duties, officers determined that 31-year-old Garcia was under the influence. Police took him into the South Tulare County Detention Facility under charges of felony DUI and voluntary manslaughter.

Crews also filed additional charges against Alex Garcia for outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants.
