23-Year-Old Rider Pronounced Dead after Motorcycle Accident near Southern Avenue

PHOENIX, AZ (June 17, 2024) Alex Calderon died Friday night and two were injured in high-speed motorcycle collision on Sycamore and Southern Avenue.

Police officers responded to the scene around 9:50 p.m., on June 14th.

Per reports, 23-year-old Calderon was riding a motorcycle at high speeds, weaving between cars. The motorcycle eventually crashed into a stationary SUV that was waiting to turn left at the intersection.

Upon arrival, crews found Calderon partially trapped under the SUV. Crews quickly transported him to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Authorities identified the deceased victim as 23-year-old Calderon. Additionally, two passengers in the SUV sustained minor injuries.

Police conducted an impairment test on the Mazda driver as part of the protocol, but crews do not believe impairment was a factor. No further details about the crash have been released at this time.
