Driver Arrested after Fatal Hit-and-Run Collision on Whittier Boulevard

WHITTIER, CA (September 23, 2022) – Thursday, police arrested Lilibeth Cindy Gonzalez after a hit-and-run crash killed Alberto Northrup.

The incident took place on September 2nd, around 11:20 p.m., at the 6506 block of Whittier Boulevard.

According to reports, Gonzalez was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu when she struck Northrup who was walking in the area. Gonzalez then fled the scene without rendering aid to the victim. She was followed northbound by a witness to the collision.

Emergency crews arrived and pronounced 60-year-old Northrup dead at the scene, due to the extent of his condition.

Meanwhile, police caught up to 35-year-old Lilibeth Cindy Gonzalez on Garfield Avenue. As a result, officers arrested her on suspicion of hit-and-run.

The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties before it was later reopened. Once available, further details will be provided.
