Traffic Accident near 48th Street Left Two Fatalities

LOS ANGELES, CA (August 15, 2022) – Tuesday morning, a pursuit crash on Figueroa Street claimed the lives of Alberto Leal and Lashonda Davis.

The incident started on August 2nd, at around 11:30 a.m. at the 4800 block of Figueroa Street.

According to reports, police were pursuing the suspect driver. At West 52nd Place and South Flower Street, the driver drove into a homeless encampment and fatally struck Leal and Davis.

Afterward, emergency personnel was dispatched to the area. Upon arrival, medics discovered both victims and pronounced 44-year-old Leal and 43-year-old Davis dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver of the involved vehicle was hospitalized for minor injuries and then later taken into custody. At this time, his identity has not been released.

Officials are investigating the fatal crash and will release additional information as soon as it becomes available.
