Minnesota U.S. Senator and onetime area resident Al Franken will be in town Friday for a fundraiser that will include “dinner, discussion and laughs” with the former comedian as well as fellow Saturday Night Live alums Dana Carvey and Kevin Nealon, LAObserved reports.

Donna and Dan Aykroyd are hosting at the club the latter co-founded, the House of Blues in West Hollywood, at 8 p.m. The prices aren't cheap: $2,400 (“cast member,” in the parlance of SNL) and $4,800 (“guest host”). But LAO reports there's also a $50 reception (we're guessing that would be for the writers). It's worth it, because Franken is good enough, smart enough, and doggone it, people like him. Info.

You know what would be really cool? If his longtime nemesis Bill “O-Lie-Ly” O'Reilly, the Fox News blowhard the senator ripped in his book Lies (And the Lying Liars Who Tell Them): A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right showed up. I bet they'd even let him in for free.
