Agent Orange Return to the Whisky: It’s great to see concerts are well and truly back at most of the region’s indoor venues now, as children between 5 and 11 are finally able to get protected though the vaccine and the venues are embracing the vaccine mandate. Whisper it, but normality is returning.

Agent Orange are a perfect band to watch at the Whisky. Beloved, storied SoCal punk rock from a band that play a glorious blend of old school snotty punk, hardcore and ska.

“Inevitably, if you know what you’re doing, [the sound] becomes more refined and it becomes more of a focused version of what it was,” frontman Mike Palm told us back in 2017. “I have to say, it’s kinda working like that for me. There may have been some slight changes along the way, but the genre that I chose and the way I chose to present my sound is somewhat unique. It was then and it is now. I’ve just expounded upon that original vision. It’s all working out. It just gets better and easier every year.”

The band may have been born in the OC, but at the time of that feature Palm was based out of San Diego. Still, the band will always be closely associated with Orange County. Palm recallsed that, back in the early 1980s, young OC punks would venture to the bright lights of L.A. to see what was going on.

“Especially in the early days of the punk scene, any competitiveness was just for fun, if there was any at all,” he says. “Orange County was still no man’s land as far as punk rock goes. So of course we were in L.A. seeing what was going on, seeing the bands. If anything, you could look at it as encouraging and inspirational — other artists doing something cool.”

Also on the bill at the Whisky are Toxic Energy, the Moon Rocks, All Goes Well, Demure, Black Market Theory, Banger, and Legions.

Agent Orange Return to the Whisky: The event takes place at 6 p.m. on Friday, November 12 at the Whisky A GoGo.
