Costa Mesa Freeway Accident Kills Santa Ana Man

COSTA MESA, CA (June 22, 2021) – Wednesday night, 34-year-old Adam Whalen was killed in a deadly motorcycle crash on 55 Freeway.

The accident occurred around 10:30 p.m., near the connector with the Corona Del Mar (73) Freeway and Baker Street on-ramp.

Police later determined that the motorcyclist rear-ended a 2014 Audi SUV while traveling at a high rate of speed in the No.2 lane.

As a result of the impact, the biker was ejected off of his motorcycle and into the roadway. There, several other vehicles struck him.

Eventually, the Orange County coroner’s office identified the victim as Adam Whalen, of Santa Ana.

At this time, the Costa Mesa police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
