Adam Taylor: From Sommelier to Financial Maverick in Tampa

One such story is Adam Taylor’s journey from humble beginnings to becoming a financial maverick in Tampa. Born and raised in Tallahassee, in the heart of Florida, Adam made his way into the world of hospitality, ultimately creating a thriving career in financial planning.

Adam’s journey began with his thirst for knowledge and a deep passion for culinary arts. After graduating from the College of Business at Florida State University, he moved to San Francisco to chase his passion in the culinary world. Working with restaurants allowed him to immerse himself in the art of wine. This experience also helped him gain expertise in hospitality. He gradually scaled his career by moving to the New Orleans restaurant scene and later to Atlanta, honing his skills continually.

While Adam felt like his career had started taking off, his life took a pivotal turn after Hurricane Katrina. The Capital Grille in Orlando offered him a new opportunity to expand his horizons and he seized it with both hands. With unwavering dedication and diligence toward his work, Adam became a sommelier with the prestigious Court of Master Sommeliers. At 27 he was the youngest managing partner in the company’s history.

Amidst this thriving career, Adam felt the calling for Tampa and decided to relocate to this vibrant city. All geared up to face a new set of challenges, he went on to establish his own financial planning practice, before he turned 30. In 2011, he found his business partner in Northwestern Mutual. He joined the organization to get the necessary training and advocacy he needed for his clients.

After seven years of relentless learning and honing his craft, Adam was prepared to launch his own venture. In June 2018, he opened the doors of “Taylor Financial,” beginning a new chapter in his professional life. Since the inception of the firm, he has been resolute in making a positive impact on his community. This determination earned him widespread recognition as a financial maverick.

Adam’s prowess in the financial world is reflected on the accolades he has achieved so far. He was listed among the top 40 advisors under 40 by NAIFA in 2014 and consistently received industry awards for his excellence in the financial realm. Adam’s qualifications, including Series 7, 6, 63, and 26 licenses, along with a host of designations from the American College, speak volumes of his commitment to self-development as a leader and business owner.

Besides his profession, Adam Taylor is also actively involved in the Tampa community as a way to give back Adam also founded, Trusted Advisors Tampa and GovCon Trusted Advisors. His involvement extends as the founder of Bourbon and Brains and Corks and Dorks.

Beyond his thriving career and community engagement, Adam is a family man. Married to his beloved wife Andi in 2009, the couple is enjoying parenthood raising three children- Abbi, Alexander, and Anderson. The family is complete with a loyal black lab- Atticus. Taking a break from his work and community involvement, Adam cherishes his love for Florida State football, indulges in cycling, and spends quality time with his family.
