Bravo TV host Tim Gunn recently revealed to the world that he hasn't had sex in 29 years and the blogosphere (and 24-hour news outlets) went nuts. He revealed it was a decision made following the end of a relationship and that he doesn't feel unsatisfied or unfulfilled — not one bit.

He says he feels pretty damn good about it. And a lot of his fans just didn't get it. Cuz he's Tim Gunn! He's not exactly Homer Simpson or Peter Griffin. But as any professional sex therapist will tell you, one doesn't become abstinent because he or she can't get laid.

They choose to refrain from sex. No matter how physically attractive a person looks, or how sexual a person may appear, abstinence can be about control, delayed-gratification, or refraining from the emotional responsibilities and complications.

And Gunn isn't the first! Here are five celebrities who've chosen to refrain from sex – and why.

Lady Gaga

“I can't believe I'm saying this — don't have sex. It's not really cool any more to have sex all the time. It's cooler to be strong and independent. It's OK not to have sex, it's OK to get to know people. I'm celibate, celibacy's fine.” (Source)

Prince

“I'm single, celibate and sexy – I feel free. That's what happens with years of celibacy – it all goes into the music. This time, it has to be the right person.” (Source)

Lenny Kravitz

“In 2008, he said he'd been celibate for three years. 'It's just a promise I made until I get married. Where I'm at in life, the women have got to come with something else, not just the body, but the mind and spirit. It usually trips them out, but that's the way it's going to be. I'm looking at the big picture.'” (Source)
