About 5,000 Michael Jackson fans descended on Glendale's Forest Lawn Memorial Park, where the King of Pop was laid to rest, to pay respects on the first anniversary of his death.

Jackson's body is interred in the Great Mausoleum, and fans were allowed to walk in front of his resting place and leave flowers and other momentos in a designated area.

Sgt. Tom Lorenz of Glendale police estimated crowds, which were hindered by limited parking and an uphill hike to get to Jackson's resting place, at 5,000. The visitors had limited access to the cemetery, and they were described as being well-behaved.

Some of Jackson's relatives and friends were allowed to attend a private service inside the mausoleum.
