DUI Hit-and-Run Crash near Cedar Avenue Resulted in Two Fatalities

BLOOMINGTON, CA (April 4, 2022) – A hit-and-run crash on Randall Avenue killed Aaron McDonald and Irene Jaramillo, early Saturday.

The incident occurred around 1:00 a.m., when 24-year-old Alejandro Canchola drove a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

CHP officials chased Canchola through the surrounding area near the intersection of Cedar Avenue and Randall Avenue. The chase ended when Canchola ran a red light and struck the vehicle of McDonald and Jaramillo.

Paramedics then transported McDonald and Jaramillo to a nearby hospital where they were later pronounced dead.

The suspect’s car also crashed into a house in the area. Luckily, all five tenants did not sustain any injuries.

Meanwhile, medics took Jose Castrocota, 21, Canchola’s passenger to a hospital with moderate injuries. Moreover, officials stated that they will arrest Canchola after his release from the hospital.

At this time, Bloomington police continue to investigate the fatal crash and will release updates once available.
