The Smorgasburg AAPI LA Fair will take place on Sunday, May 7, a one-day only fundraising event that will feature baked goods, savory bites, packaged goods and merchandise, all prepared by local AAPI chefs and makers. Entry is free.

MAUM Market returns to ROW DTLA on Saturday, May 27, featuring more than 70  LA-based small, Asian owned businesses. Find gifts across art, home, fashion, jewelry, snacks, and drinks. Entry is $5.

Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown will honor the legacy of the hotel’s design muse, Anna May Wong, with an immersive package for guests to celebrate the starlet’s life.  Wong grew up in L.A.’s Chinatown in the early 1900s and rose to fame as the first Chinese American international movie star, appearing in more than 60 movies throughout her career, and was the first Asian American woman to get a star on the Walk of Fame. Shinji’s – the transportive, immersive New York City cocktail bar from the team behind Michelin-starred omakase restaurant Noda, will be popping up at Thunderbolt, the American South inspired cocktail bar on Wednesday, May 10. Shinji’s will be serving a selection of their cocktails including:

  • Honeypenny, satsuma gin, nikka gin, beeswax vodka, vesper aperitif, mead and cocchi americano

Off The Menu and Topo Chico Hard Seltzer will host Topo Chico de Mayo in celebration of Cinco De Mayo on Friday, May 5, at Prince Street Pizza in Venice.

From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., celebrate the holiday with unlimited tacos from Tacos 1986, unlimited pizza from Prince Street Pizza and a special collaboration dish from the two restaurants — an Adobada Pizza with Adobada, onions, cilantro, morita salsa marinara sauce, and mozzarella Monterey Jack mix, drizzled with a serrano crema. Bryan Rabin will reopen Giorgio’s Discotheque™ in Hollywood, on Saturday, May 13, at recording studio-turned-modern Italian restaurant, 71 Studio Lounge at Grandmaster Recorders. Giorgio’s Discotheque™, named after dance music producer Giorgio Moroder and close friend of Rabin’s, was a weekly Saturday night dance party launched in 2013 at the former Standard Hollywood. Relaunching after closing its doors due to COVID, Giorgio’s is back at a new location.

Eataly LA has launched ICONS OF EATALY, a new national project created to celebrate Italy’s most beloved national dish: pasta. The six-month series will feature an ongoing program of special dishes, hands-on classes, events with guest chefs and brand pop-ups, all in celebration of one of Italy’s finest culinary achievements. The series will run through November. Each month, Eataly will release a limited-time pasta dish that tells a story about Italy’s unique history and distinctive regional traditions. Here is the lineup:

Wednesday, May 10: 

  • PASTA BEATS: Special DJ guest Mia Moretti will spin beats at Terra from 9p.m. to 11:30 p.m. 

Saturday, May 13: 

  • WORKSHOP AND DEMO WITH IMPASTIAMO: Complimentary experience in the marketplace with hands-on pasta lessons from Impastiamo — a platform for cooking classes and team-building experiences. 

Tuesday, May 16: 

  • GUEST EVENT WITH GIORGIO CHIELLINI: Italian soccer player Giorgio Chiellini will host a one night event at La Pizza & La Pasta.

  • GUCCI OSTERIA and EATALY LA: In partnership with Felicetti Pasta, Chef Mattia Agazzi from Gucci Osteria and Eataly LA’s Executive Chef Manco join forces to host a seated dinner at Terra. 

Thursday, May 18:

  • ICONS OF EATALY PASTA FESTA: Ticketed store festa with pasta-tasting stations throughout the marketplace, with beats from LA’s Rigatoni Club — a members-only dinner and social club dedicated to rigatoni pasta and Italian culture. 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 

Friday, May 19:

  • CHEF LUCA FANTIN at  EATALY LA: In partnership with Consorzio del Pecorino (the Consortium for the Protection of Pecorino), Eataly LA is bringing in renowned chef, Luca Fatin, of the Bulgari Hotel, from Tokyo to offer a special pasta menu for one night only. 

In addition to the guest chef events and pop-ups, there will also be pasta-making classes at Eataly’s La Scuola: classes on every element of pasta, including artisanal dry pasta, fresh handmade pasta, how to pair different pasta shapes with sauces, and more.
