Doesn't it make you feel good when Jeffrey Katzenberg is proud of something? You always read those news articles where he talks about being honored about this and that, but it's not like he calls you up all excited to tell you about it. The opening of the “DreamWorlds: Behind the Scenes, Production Art From DreamWorks Animation” exhibition will be your chance to share in pride of workmanship as you bear witness to the process behind these beautiful examples of animated feature filmmaking. Twenty-four (!) animated films are represented in this survey, including the Shrek series, both chapters in the Kung Fu Panda saga, the Madagascar franchise and DreamWorks' latest, this autumn's Rise of the Guardians. You get the sense with this exhibition that DreamWorks exists as a cosmos unto itself — it's not like this is one of those vehement screeds from animators telling you how animation should be taken seriously as an art form. We're way beyond that by now. Isn't it nice when someone takes your art form seriously? Doesn't it make you proud?
