The wise forecasters at the National Weather Service were absolutely right.

They predicted that the double whammy of Monday-through-Wednesday storms that hit Southern California this week would finally bring a serious amount of snow to our local mountains.

Indeed.

Area resorts are boasting that they got dumped on (in the best possible way). They even sent us video of that good stuff (below).

The folks at Big Bear Mountain Resorts, who run Snow Summit and Bear Mountain in the San Bernardino Mountains, say they were hit with 5 to 7 inches of powder Wednesday morning.

Remember, NWS meteorologist John Dumas predicted—you guessed it—half a foot of snow for SoCal mountains, starting at the relatively low 5,000-foot level.

A rep for Big Bear Mountain Resorts says they have “great snowboarding and skiing conditions.” No doubt.

Half of Snow Summit's runs, including Miracle Mile, Summit Run, Bear Bottom, East Why, Westridge, Zzyzx and Ego Trip are reporting for duty, the Big Bear folks say.

Bear Mountain started opening daily on Sunday. The Easy Street, Inspiration, The Gulch, Upper Park Run, Park Run Face, Lower Park Run and Expressway runs are open there, they said.

Competitor Mountain High is claiming a whopping 10 inches of new snow from that dual storm, with a base of nearly two feet in places.

Go for it. And be safe.
