Just in case anyone doubts Jamie Nichols' ability to assemble some of L.A.'s best dance companies for her annual showcase Celebrate Dance, the Lester Horton Awards honoring L.A. dance bestowed on her the Outstanding Achievement for a Festival three years in a row, plus many of the companies Nichols presented won separate Horton awards for their individual performances. During the year, Nichols is a constant presence in the audience at SoCal dance performances. She skims some of the cream for her annual one-night stand and Celebrate Dance 2012 again is an amalgam of familiar faces and newer emerging companies. Two San Diego troupes — Malashock Dance and LaDiego Dance Theater — join L.A.-based Hysterica Dance Company, Invertigo Dance Theatre, Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Theater, Lydia Zimmer, Monat Dance, Regina Klenjoski Dance Company and RhetOracle Dance Company. Expect a curated swirl of jazz, ballet, modern and contemporary dance at the Alex Theater, 216 N. Brand Blvd., Glendale; Mar. 3, 8 p.m.; $16-$36, $12 children.

Sat., March 3, 8 p.m., 2012
