We'll have more info forthcoming about the Dwell on Design conference June 26-28 at the Convention Center, as well as the dinner and a movie event on Saturday, June 27 at the Geffen at MOCA, which features architectural film screenings and a mobile Restaurant Row.

But in the meantime, the polls are about to close in the Dwell's contest to name the next Coolhaus ice cream sandwich flavor. Remember, the name must reference a work or architect/designer of note, and specify the ice cream and cookie components. Warning! Coming up with archi-food puns can be addictive. Send your suggestions to coolhauscontest@dwell.com. The winning submission will be served at the Geffen on the 27th.

Get a taste of the exciting food-related goodies planned for Dwell on Design by reading an interview with Evan Kleiman and a behind-the-scenes look at the AIA/LA's Restaurant Design Awards judges, and how you can add your own vote.

In the same very general genre of discussing design, urban space, and innovative entrepreneurial models of serving food, GOOD Magazine's Trekking L.A. 2009: Global Feasts, Local Streets partners with the Trekking L.A. project next week. This offshoot of L.A. Commons and UCLA's Department of Urban Planning will gather folks at Mercado La Paloma on Thursday, June 25 at 6:00 p.m. to share music, highlight groundbreaking grassroots community economic development, eat a lot of terrific food, honor good work, and expand cultural horizons. Go check it out. (RSVP by June 25 at noon.)

Mercado La Paloma, 3655 S. Grand Ave., South L.A.
