Editor-in-chief of Cahiers du cinema from 1956 to 1963, Eric Rohmer made his first feature in 1959 and completed his final film at age 87. In celebration of Rohmer's 50-year career, this new series features 11 of his films, beginning tonight with a double bill. First, My Night at Maud's (Ma Nuit chez Maud, 1969), about an engineer who, after being stranded in a blizzard while on business, fails at talking himself into an attractive divorcee's spare room for the night. Plus, A Good Marriage (Le Beau Mariage, 1982), about an art student who mistakenly pursues marriage as a solution to her issues with married men.
