Last Saturday, experienced kinksters and the eager and curious gathered at the Stockroom — the L.A. Mecca of beyond-vanilla sexiness — for a workshop taught by Sunny Megatron (host of Showtime's SEX with Sunny Megatron) and Ken Melvoin-Berg. The Chicago-based sex educators went through a “Kinky Tapas” menu of six introductions to different BDSM techniques. Sunny mentioned the “white elephant” in the room was Fifty Shades of Grey and, while reserving judgement about the literary merits of the book, said she was happy the phenomenon was helping people have informed conversations about the much maligned BDSM lifestyle. Ken also introduced the crowd to their own preferred brand of bondage play, a less dark, more fun variation that uses balloons instead of rope. All photos by Gustavo Turner.
