There's wine, and there's $16-a-glass house wine served in a baby-sized glass. Mr. C Beverly Hills, which opened on the brink of Beverly Hills and the Pico/Robertson area of town, is many things, but not heavy-handed with the vino. The hotel, opened last month on Beverwil Drive, is still fairly empty and hasn't launched a happy hour in the bar just yet (we will return when they do).

In other opening news, chef Farid Zadi, a regular test kitchen contributor to Squid Ink, announced plans of his upcoming restaurant opening on Twitter. “Will probably happen earlier in September,” @ChefZadi tweeted on July 24th. “Looking at the lease, not signed yet. for my restaurant. exciting to be so close, but sooo far away,” he added.

Italian restaurant Pici Enoteca opens today, August 1st, in Beverly Hills (first reported by Eater). The restaurant is a collaboration by chef Jason Harley (BlackSteel) and Jeff Vespa. Pici (pronounced “peachy”) replaces Bossa Nova on South Beverly Drive. The revamped space has an old-school vibe with a tin ceiling, black-and-white tile floors and a small, dark-wood bar. The menu includes grilled eggplant with paprika oil and artichoke fritters, burrata-stuffed garden plum tomatoes, thin-crust pizzas, house-made pici pasta and the usual suspects: tomato-basil-garlic, Bolognese and puttanesca spaghetti. The restaurant is currently taking reservations.
