For the fourth year, L.A. Zoo lights returns to Griffith Park's L.A. Zoo. While most of the animals snooze in their cozy nighttime lairs, the zoo is invaded by illuminated elephants striped like wrapping paper and glowing purple meerkats, all while Christmas music plays. You may catch a glimpse of an enchanted swan lake or defiant peacock in a tree, but the only live animal exhibits that are officially open for Zoo Lights are the reptile house (because nighttime is their playtime) and the rollicking reindeer paddock.
L.A. Zoo Lights continues through Jan. 7 (closed Dec. 24 and 25).
