A Diamond Reimagined

There is a new exquisite, hand-crafted drink grabbing the attention of both social drinkers and connoisseurs alike. Deriving its name from the Spanish word for “diamond,” Tequila Gran Diamante is an ultra-premium line that has undergone a creative process by its founders as rigorous and as high-pressure as the process that forms a diamond.

Produced in an award-winning distillery in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, Diamante’s different expressions are a testimony to its unique quality. Its entire line is made from 100% Blue Weber Agave, with no additives. Aside from its specialty offerings of Extra Añejo and its up-and-coming Mezcal, the brand offers the three main expressions of Plata, Reposado, and Añejo. With the Plata, one can enjoy aromas of spice, vegetal and floral tones, and vanilla. The Reposado is aged in French Oak barrels for eight months, and carries hints of caramel, slight wood and smoke. After aging in French Oak barrels for 18 months, the Añejo introduces to the palate hints of muted spice, pepper, oak, butterscotch, cinnamon and nutmeg spices, slight smoke, wood, chocolate and cigar.

Diamante sports platinum, silver, and gold accolades from globally recognized competitions. A few of the many include the Double Gold Award for its Reposado and the Silver Award for its Plata at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and the Bronze Award for its Añejo at the New York World Wine & Spirits Competition in 2022. Diamante’s tequila is not the only part of the brand being heralded as one of the best. In 2023, its bottle was also given Best Design Award by the Beverage Testing Institute.

Diamante is quickly becoming an approachable, top-shelf tequila that is making significant impressions as it storms onto the spirits scene. Since its launch in 2020, the brand has appeared in issues of last year’s Voyage LA Magazine and Industry Rules Magazine, on the cover of Tequila Aficionado Magazine, and recently featured in the January 2023 issue of Proof Awards Magazine.

Diamante will continue to generate a following as it becomes more widely accessible in different regions. Diamante has been found in both LA and OC nightlife in recent months, from events for Haute Wine Society, to Gatsby Members-Only events and the Dana Point Sleigh the Holidays Market & Festival in December of 2022, where attendees referred to Diamante as the “smoothest tequila” of the night. Diamante was also the featured drink at the 2022 Newport Beach Film Festival. But private, exclusive events are not the only place Diamante can be found. This diamond is both exclusive and inclusive, accessible to many at various liquor stores and restaurants in Southern California. Diamante can be found at locations including Remedy Liquor stores, Emilio’s Beverage Warehouse, Ramirez Beverage Center, Monarch Beach Market, and Mission Wine and Spirits (in Glendale). Many restaurants also offer Diamante, from Wally’s and La Gondola in Beverly Hills, to other areas of Los Angeles including Javier’s in Century City, and Toca Madera and Casa Madera in West Hollywood. Other menus where Diamante can be spotted include those at Alma Cocina, Gwen, Blue Ribbon Sushi, Avila locations, and Belles Beach House. You can even find Diamante at the LA Tequila Fest in September of this year, where there will be some big prizes and giveaways. For online shoppers, bottles of Diamante can also be purchased through the brand’s e-commerce site, currently available in 18 states (tequiladiamante.com).

With its sights set on “nothing but the best,” Diamante personifies luxury. It is the epitome of sexy. It will get you to “rethink smooth.” For more updates on this precious gem, follow Diamante’s Instagram and TikTok accounts (both with the handle @tequiladiamante). Soon enough, you’ll see Diamante glisten in your peripheral vision just about everywhere you turn.
