Where the Chefs Eat is an ongoing series in which we ask a local chef to give us his or her favorite dining options. This week, we check in with Tar & Roses chef Andrew Kirschner.

Like many of the chefs we talk to for Where The Chefs Eat, Andrew Kirschner likes to eat at lower-key places on his days off. “While I feel it's very important to eat at 'current' chef-driven restaurants, keeping my pulse on whats happening in L.A., and I do, I most often tend to lean towards ethnic and off the beaten path restaurants,” he says.

For Thai: “One of my personal favorites is Jitlada, the most amazing and authentic Thai restaurant in all of Los Angeles in my opinion.”

For Japanese: “I Love Sushi Gen located downtown as well as Nanbankan for robatayaki located on Santa Monica Blvd just off Sawtelle.”

For Korean:Park's and Soot Bull Jeep is always great!!”
