Litz became interested in acting at an early age and has been determined to become a storyteller ever since. She recalls watching David Lynch’s Elephant Man when she was young and quickly becoming obsessed with acting. Litz was already a successful actress by the time she realized she could also offer her own story ideas to the craft. While starring as playwright Sam Shepard’s daughter in the award-winning hit mini-series After The Harvest, Litz was inspired by Shepard’s work to create her own. She has been developing her screenwriting skills ever since and has found great success as both an actress and a writer.
Litz’s reputation within the entertainment industry has flourished in recent years and made her a fixture among top actors and screenwriters. After starring in Crimes of the Future alongside award-winning actors Viggo Mortensen and Kristen Stewart, she was handpicked by Mortensen to star alongside himself and Vicky Krieps in his sophomore feature as a writer/director of The Dead Don’t Hurt. Mortensen is best known for his starring role as Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and has been nominated three times in the Best Actor category at the Academy Awards for his work in Eastern Promises, Captain Fantastic, and Green Book. Litz’s work with Mortensen led her to attend the prestigious Cannes Film Festival where Crimes of the Future premiered. This marked her second time attending the festival while a film she starred in debuted, the first being Emmy-winning director Jeremy Podeswa’s feature The Five Senses. Litz and Podeswa reunited for After The Harvest, for which Litz earned a Gemini Award nomination.
While her acting resume is impressive, Litz’s screenwriting work has been equally celebrated. Her feature-length screenplay, The People Garden, won the sought-after Audience Award at the Toronto International Film Festival’s Screenwriter Lab and caught the attention of iconic actress Pamela Anderson. The screenplay was made into a film starring Anderson and actress Dree Hemingway. After screening in competition at BAFICI, The People Garden was picked up by Orion Pictures for distribution, the same company that recently released the Academy-award-winning film Women Talking. The People Garden was also nominated for Best Film at the Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Cinema.
Litz has no plans of slowing down in her writing or acting. She was recently offered a writing development deal by the producers of Crimes of the Future for a miniseries based on a true crime novel. She strives to play a critical lead role in bringing complex narratives to the screen. Litz draws inspiration from her favorite actors and actresses to form her characters and stories, creating roles that they would be excited to play.
