L.A. Weekly publisher Brian Calle sits down with the director and stars of Low Low to discuss the film, punching stalkers and Red Lobster’s Cheddar Bay Biscuits.

Low Low Director Nick Richey, also known for his work with Relativity and After the Tone, gives us insight into the motivation behind the film. Born out of a desire to give a platform to the realities of growing up in a low-income household – with little representation in the media – Low Low tells the story of a seldom-discussed class of student.

Segueing into real-life struggles, our guests share past jobs. Red Lobster seems to be a common experience for the crew, with Nick’s impressive family legacy contrasting with actor Dominique Columbus’  … more entertaining legacy. Like most of us in L.A., our guests have some pretty great service industry stories to share.

Star Ali Richey, who plays Ryan Reese in the film, gives insight into her character’s motivations. A hilarious husband and wife team, Nick and Ali share how their own personal experiences shaped Ali’s portrayal of the character – including an opening monologue that’s a retelling of the first penis Nick ever saw.

Hot on the heels of an audition, Dominique joined the crew as they discuss how to deal with people trying to steal your partner. Known for his work in Ray Donovan and City of Lies, Dom provides us with some wisdom into the differences between the sexes when it comes to getting in fights with strangers.

A coming of age story that shows the deep personal struggle of reconciling a fading youth with an uncertain future, Low Low premieres on August 15th and will be available in select theaters in L.A. and N.Y. beginning August 16th. Visit LowLowMovie.com for more info.

Tune in to learn more about this incredible film, as well as what exactly happened when Dom was fired from Red Lobster and how Nick probably should have been fired from Marmalade Cafe.
