Young Girl Fatally Struck in Deadly Accident on Grande Avenue in Tucson

TUCSON, AZ (June 15, 2021) – Tuesday night, 8-year-old Yarel Ruiz, was killed in a deadly hit-and-run crash on Congress Street.

The crash took place at the intersection of Congress Street and Grande Avenue, just west of I-10.

Per reports, a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro was traveling west on Congress and ran a red light at the junction. The Camaro then collided with a 2017 Hyundai Sonata as it was heading north on Grande Avenue.

Brent William Youvella, 35, was put into the Pima County Jail on a felony charge of fleeing the scene of a major injury/fatal crash.

The Chevrolet driver’s inability to stop at a red light and high speed were cited as contributing reasons to the incident. He was later arrested on Thursday at his residence in the 500 block of West Thurber Road.
