Eight Hurt in Bus Collision near Benson Road

RENTON, WA (August 7, 2024) – Eight people were hurt Friday night, in a bus crash on South Puget and Benson Drive.

Police officers responded to the scene around 7:30 p.m., in between Benson Road and Benson Drive on July 12th.

Reports indicate that a King County Metro bus driver experienced a medical emergency and lost control of the vehicle. The bus veered off the road, went down an embankment, and became stuck in a ditch.

Paramedics arrived and transported eight passengers from the bus to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Medical personnel also treated the bus driver at the scene. The identities of those involved have not yet been released by the authorities.

The incident caused both directions of South Puget Drive to be temporarily blocked. The lanes were reopened once the scene was cleared, and further investigation is ongoing.
