Kaiser Permanente confirmed that a 78- year-old woman lost consciousness after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine in Pomona, Friday, and could not be revived by paramedics.

A cause of death has not been determined, but the woman complained about feeling pain in her arm and the family disclosed the patient had a history of heart-related issues.

“Paramedics on scene began CPR almost immediately and continued, but she ultimately could not be revived,” a statement given to City News Service said. “Her cause of death has not been determined; however, there were no signs or symptoms of a severe allergic or anaphylactic reaction. Her family has shared that she had a history of heart-related illness.”

As of this writing, there is no suspected link between the death and the vaccine itself and an investigation is underway.

The Kaiser-run vaccination site at Cal Poly Pomona had just opened earlier this week and was administering the Pfizer-created vaccine.

The Pomona site plans to remain open until it has used up its supply.
