Several Injured, One Airlifted after Auto Accident on American Avenue
FRESNO, CA (June 10, 2022) – Monday afternoon, at least seven victims were hospitalized after a driver ran a stop sign on Greenwood Avenue.
The incident occurred around 2:00 p.m., at the intersection of Greenwood and American Avenue.
In addition, witnesses told officers that a GMC was heading south on Greenwood towards American Avenue. For reasons unknown, the driver ran through the stop sign on Greenwood Avenue and collided with a Jeep.
The impact of the crash ejected three occupants from the GMC onto the road. Meanwhile, the Jeep crashed and took down a phone pole.
Responding officials transported the six people inside the GMC and one person from the Jeep to a hospital.
Additionally, medics airlifted a 17-year-old girl from inside the GMC to Community Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
Fresno County officers arrested the Jeep driver for driving under the influence, but say they were not at fault for this collision. Although, authorities have not released their name or place of residency.
