1 Dead, 3 Injured after Fiery Head-On Crash on Interstate 5

WOODLAND, CA (August 19, 2021) – A 68-year-old Sacramento died and three more sustained injuries in a fiery head-on crash on I-5 last Sunday.

The fatal head-on collision occurred on Interstate 5 near the Kentucky Avenue overpass around 7:45 p.m. on August 15.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 27-year-old Elk Grove woman was driving northbound when she veered off the road. The woman then drove through a grass center divider, finally colliding with a pickup truck in the southbound lanes.

The pickup truck caught fire as a result, trapping him and his passengers, a 51-year-old woman and a 14-year-old boy.

Unfortunately, the Sacramento man died at the scene.

Meanwhile, medics transported the 51-year-old woman and the boy to a hospital, where they were treated for minor to moderate injuries.

Authorities said the Elk Grove woman also sustained major injuries and treated at a hospital nearby.

At this time, police did not release the identity and the condition of all parties involved.
