Several Hurt in Multi-Vehicle Collision near Winding Way
FAIR OAKS, CA (April 1, 2022) – Saturday evening, at least six victims were hospitalized following a 4-car accident on Hazel Avenue.
The incident occurred around 9:00 p.m., near the intersection of Hazel Avenue and Winding Way.
Per reports, a 37-year-old man was driving a Tesla Model 3 at a high rate of speed heading north on Hazel Avenue, just south of Winding Way. There, the Tesla driver rear-ended a Hyundai Elantra.
The impact pushed the Hyundai off the road before striking a metal light pole and coming to rest against a concrete wall. Additionally, the Tesla driver swerved into the southbound lanes and crashed head-on into an oncoming Toyota Prius.
The driver of a Ford Fusion then struck the Toyota, carrying three people including a baby.
Paramedics transported the 30-year-old female driver who suffered moderate injuries to the UC Davis Medical Center for treatment.
Meanwhile, medics brought the 34-year-old man driving the Toyota to Mercy San Juan Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.
Moreover, the 28-year-old man driving the Ford suffered moderate injuries. His two passengers, a 30-year-old woman, and a 1-year-old child suffered minor injuries. Crews took all three victims to Mercy San Juan Medical Center for treatment.
The driver of the Tesla suffered major injuries. Officers placed the suspect under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol.
