If you thought the book 50 Shades of Grey was obscene, the new theatrical adaptation of E.L. James' novel is ten times raunchier.

50 Shades! The Musical takes the story of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey to new levels of outrageous. Adding over-the-top humor to scenes from the novel, the parody crosses all boundaries of appropriateness, making for a hilarious two hours. ]

Written by Al Samuels, Emily Dorezas, Amanda Blake Davis, Jody Shelton, Ashley Ward and Dan Wessels, 50 Shades! The Musical is making its L.A. premiere at the Kirk Douglas Theatre through March 30 as part of its North American tour. The plot revolves around three women who are a part of a book club that decides to read the book 50 Shades of Grey. These quintessential mini van-driving soccer moms guide the audience through their visualizations of specific scenes in the book. The best is the scene in which Anastasia falls asleep and has a sexual dream about Grey involving white ribbons – representing Christian's sperm – flying all over her, while she sings about her fear of what being his sex slave would be like. 

The lewd humor keeps the entire audience squirming. Songs include lyrics like “It doesn't have to be scary in missionary” and “I have a hole inside me that needs to be filled.” One of the numbers involves Grey prancing around the stage in a red leotard, singing, “I don't make love, I fuck.”

50 Shades! The Musical is a spoof on the sexual intensity of the book and the obsession many soccer moms have with it. When fuzzy pink handcuffs and lipstick vibrators are available for purchase at the merchandise table, you know you're in for an interesting adventure to say the least.
