New York's long-running 50 First Jokes is returning to L.A. for a third year, and it's the first big comedy event of 2013. While this year's lineup has yet to be announced, last year's roster included The Office's B.J. Novak, Maria Bamford and Eric Andre, as well as writers for Leno, Conan, Letterman and The Daily Show and plenty of up-and-comers. Your butt won't have time to feel numb: The comics will be introduced in quick rotation, each unleashing his or her first new material of the year. You'll laugh hard — even if you're still recovering from your New Year's Eve hangover — at their two-minute riffs that will no doubt cover everything from last year's election to holiday horror stories. Regrets — we've all had a few. Downtown Independent, 251 S. Main St., dwntwn.; Sat., Jan. 6, 7 p.m.; $10 in advance, $12 at the door. (213) 617-1033, brownpapertickets.com.
