Five Hurt Including 3 Children in Solo-Car Accident near Gaviota Tunnel

SANTA BARBARA, CA (January 25, 2022) – Late Monday afternoon, five victims were hospitalized after a rollover crash Highway 101.

Per reports, a car rolled over on the highway in rainy conditions around 4:20 p.m., near the Gaviota Tunnel.

According to crews, four of the passengers were in critical condition and one was in moderate condition.

Shortly after preliminary duties, all five victims were taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, with one person traveling by helicopter. Two of the patients were adults, and three were pediatric patients.

In addition, reports also indicate that one person was ejected from the vehicle. However, the events leading up to the incident remain unclear at this time.
