We want to blow it out, spend the year-end bonus (do those even exist anymore??), put on our fanciest outfits and hobnob with the big shots.

The Bazaar by José Andrés
The Bazaar is throwing its annual Spanish Masquerade ball, which includes multiple dining areas and tray-passed tapas. Cava and cocktails will be provided at stations scattered throughout the restaurant. A house DJ will provide inspiration for your dorky dance moves. Tickets are $195 per person right now — on Christmas they go up to $250. Purchase here.

Bar Marmont
I mean, it's New Year's Eve. You might as well go full Hollywood. You can get into the party at Bar Marmont (hosted by Sean Patrick and Damon Peruzzi — dunno who they are but that's because I don't know what “nightlife impresario” means) for $50, but if you want to take part in the “VIP open bar” and dinner, it'll cost you $200 per person. Mélisse
Santa Monica's most luxurious restaurant is not pulling any punches for New Year's Eve. From 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., you can get a table for the bargain price of $150 per person. That will get you a four-course dinner. For the second seating, beginning at 8:30 p.m., a spot at the table will cost you $275 per person for a six-course dinner, plus music and dancing. The Varnish
Our favorite cocktail bar is throwing an intimate New Year's bash with unlimited cocktail service and Champagne punch. A late dinner will be catered by Belcampo Meat Co., and snacks will be served throughout the night. The Jamie Elman Trio will provide entertainment with live jazz. Bonus: the fifth annual Varnish Limbo Contest. $195 per person. Reservations can be made for two to six people by contacting thevarnish@thavarnishbar.com.

Maude
While never cheap, Maude usually offers one of the best-value tasting menus around, at just about $100 per person for nine courses, service included. But for New Year's Eve, they are really upping the ante. For $500 per person, you can hang out with chef Curtis Stone while he makes you a tasting menu highlighting some of the year’s best ingredients, including caviar, lobster and truffles.
