This week's dance events include a new production of Hair, a belly dance Alice pursuing a hip hop white rabbit, and new dance NOW.

5. Wonderland goes bellydance and hip hop

The setup certainly sounds like someone went down a certain rabbit hole or nibbled the wrong mushroom: Combine belly dance with street dance to retell the story of Alice in Wonderland. Yet mixing Middle Eastern dance with contemporary dance forms is exactly what the 20-member Bellydance Evolution and choreographer Jillina Carlano are all about. The five-year-old troupe combines contemporary dance, acrobatics, street dance, theatrical hip-hop and tribal dance to present narrative stories. Here they take on the Lewis Carroll classic with an original score by Paul Dinletir and Ozzy Ashkenazi's live beats. After all, what could be more appropriate than a hip-hop white rabbit? 4.  What’s next NOW

The 11th annual New Original Works (NOW) Festival celebrates new dance and other performing arts. This weekend, Program II offers with Carole Kim’s multimedia work with dance by Oguri and Roxanne Steinberg, table-top puppetry by Marsian De Lellis and new dance and music by d. Sabela grimes. Next week, Program III closes the series with a new theatrical work by John Fleck and new dance by Ate9 dANCEcOMPANY. At REDCAT: Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater, 631 W. 3.  Tappin' feet

This edition of the family series Big! World! Fun! features Sarah Reich’s Tap Music Project with an array of tap talent including Melinda Sullivan, Lee Howard, Gregg Russell’s Tap Sounds Underground, Steve Zee’s L.A. Ironworks, the Colburn School Tap Ensemble and Reich, plus live music. 2.  Two from the South Pacific

The Skirball Family Performances presents two family-friendly dance shows: Saturday is Filipino dance and music from Kayamanan Ng Lahi; on Sunday it’s Pacific Islands dance and music with Kutturan Chamoru. 1. The Age of Aquarius returns
