1. Santa Monica Swim Center

Santa Monica Swim Center has 2 open-air pools for you to enjoy. If you have kids (or even babies!), you can enroll them in swimming lessons here — they take your and your rascals’ safety seriously. If you’re looking for activities to take part in yourself, you can also try their water aerobics classes.

Furthermore, if you’re a Santa Monica resident, you can get into the Santa Monica Swim Center for free. The regular rate for adults is $9, children can get in for $4. Students and seniors can access the pool for $4.50.

2. Hollywood Recreation Center

Located within the Hollywood Recreation Center is the freshly-redesigned Hollywood pool — it was worth the wait as this pool has a diving board and a spiral water slide that people from all life stages can enjoy.

If you’re not feeling like swimming, you can hang out by the shaded benches that can be found all over the facility. The admission fee for adults is $4. Those who are under 17, and people older than 65, as well as persons with disabilities, can enjoy Hollywood Recreation Center’s pool for only $1.

3. Glassell Pool

Glassell Pool can be found within the neighborhood of Glassell Park. Once you’re there, you’ll be reminded of how diverse LA is — you’ll see families bonding, friends hanging out, and kids playing. Because besides the pool, you’d also want to make sure that you like the environment that you’re in!

The pool, however, offers pull buoys and kickboards. Lounge chairs also surround the pool, in case you get tired of treading and paddling the waters of Glassell Pool! Speaking of the pool water, it’s clean and well-maintained. Don’t hesitate to swim right away! Adults can enjoy the facility for $4, those 17 and below, 65 and up, and PWD can enter for $1.

4. Culver City Plunge

If you’re looking for a variety of activities to try this summer, one of the best public pools in LA is Culver City Plunge. They have an Olympic-size pool, which makes this a favorite pool among fitness enthusiasts. Swimmers Guide ranks Culver City Plunge 9/10.

According to them, “Excellent. Clean, sparkling pool. The only easily available 50m pool in the LA area. It’s only set up long-course at certain times of the day, but the swimmers at those times are focused lap swimmers.” Culver City Plunge offers lap swimming, recreational swimming, adult exercise, and swim lessons. Adults can get in for $4 per swim. Individuals 18 and below, seniors, and persons with disabilities can access the pool for $3.

5. Annenberg Community Beach House

The Annenberg Community Beach House was once a mansion built for Marion Davies. These days, this beachfront is open to the public. Here, you can swim and find shade on the poolside. But you can also engage in other fun activities — such as playing on the splash pad, table tennis, beach volleyball, and many more.

The 5-acre Annenberg Beach House still has one of the guest houses undemolished. Moreover, the marble tiles by the poolside remain intact — this is significant as the beach house is one of the few remaining establishments of the Marion estate. If you go there, you can admire how beautiful the place is for $10 if you’re an adult, those who are 17 and under can swim for $4, seniors for $5, and infants can enter for free.
